Job Description
The Teaching
Lab Specialist/Marine Collector provides lab support for courses in Zoology
and associated departments as well as instruct and assist faculty, graduate
teaching assistants, and students in the use of laboratory and field equipment.
• Manages
laboratory budgets for upper division Zoology courses.
• Maintains teaching collection of live animals and associated holding facilities
and teaches its use.
• Maintains and operates the Research Vessel Bartram and other department
vessels in support of field research and for animal collection.
• Coordinates with both undergraduate and graduate students for the design
and execution of independent projects.
• Collects, preserves and curates animal, plant, and fossil specimens for
use in teaching laboratories and for the Florida Museum of Natural History.
• Ensures departmental compliance with IACUC regulations.
• Procures, maintains, and repairs field and laboratory equipment and .
• Aquires and manages a reference library for field and laboratory use.
• Represents the Zoology department in community outreach and educational
programs).
