Building Manager Services:

Responsible for all of the dept of Zoology's facilities which include Bartram Hall, Carr Hall, six greenhouses, Thomas Farm in Gilchrist County, Florida and the UF Marine Laboratory at Sea Horse Key, FL.

Is the Property Accountable and Departmental Safety Officer for the Zoology Department.

Handles all bid specifications for any renovations or additions paid for by the Dept of Zoology. Directly supervises any approved remodeling, repairs or additions done by the dept USPS staff and faculty; Meets and inspects with various local and state safety officers, including the State Fire Marshall; receives and disperses safety materials to residents of the buildings; responsible for building security, receives reports of all thefts to the Univ. Police Dept and processes necessary paper work; sees that the buildings are periodically rekeyed and that a proper key records is maintained.

Sees that vehicles have been state safety inspected; advises dept chairman of the status of each vehicle such as the cost of maintenance and if one should be replaced or taken out of service for safety reasons.

Building Maintenance Services:

Performs a variety of carpentry construction and repair such as small research sheds, pole barns, and large outdoor cages; new walls, windows, flooring, fences, doors, boardwalks, cabinets, railings; installation of replacement items to maintain or remodel laboratories and offices belonging to the Department of Zoology and the Division of Biological Sciences.

Assists faculty and graduate students in the design and planning as well as construction of specialized instructional and research equipment requiring skilled wood, metal, and plastic work which shall be done by this employee.

Performs various types of electrical and mechanical installation of motors, time clocks, lighting fixtures, heating elements, thermostats, etc. Repairs pumps, water baths, ovens, air conditioners and other related research equipment.
